No Smooth Sailing for Miley's White Jacket

My DVR was busy last night taping what was surely the big two events on network television, The Apprentice Finale and the 2012 American Billboard Awards. I have hated on Apprentice enough this year (Yes, you Aubrey), so figured I would go with a red carpet event analysis.

There were a lot of "interesting" stage outfits, but I try to stay away from those, as they are generally a bit over the top. The one outfit that caught my eye as I forwarded through it, was Miley Cyrus's White Jacket...

I am not going to comment on the fact she has no bra on, that the outfit was super short or that she wasn't wearing bottoms...its Vegas and she is ALMOST 21.  Let's face it, that is all pretty acceptable in the City of Sin. I will start with the shoulder pads. I am pretty sure those went out of style before she was even born. And the jacket itself is pretty boxy. Its hard to see it here, but if you see the video of her presenting (below), I think you would agree. She barely moves her arms, partly I believe because she was super uncomfortable. And who wouldn't be? One wrong move and something might come out that isn't supposed to come out! (Thank you double-sided tape) Also hard to see is a thin necklace that goes around her neck, crosses in her cleavage area and then seems to go around her back? Maybe it was supposed to keep her jacket closed, but it just looked odd.

Hmmm, how to save the outfit?

I do like her shoes...A LOT. I think if you're going to do a drastic outfit like this, to draw attention, it should of been more fitted, especially around the waist. I didn't like the style of the jacket with all the buttons either, maybe something simpler and sleeker.  Was she captaining a ship?

At least Miley dressed up. I have become accustomed to seeing her wearing really bad casual clothing while strolling around Los Angeles with her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. So I am happy she made the effort. And while searching for the picture, I noticed she made a lot of 'Best of' lists', so I seem to be going against the grain.  I think the idea was a good one by her stylists, just a miss on the radar if you ask me. So no need to FIRE anyone for this outfit, maybe her other outfit selections. I would BURN that weird chain and keep the shoes. If you are by chance an eleven, feel free to send my way!!!

Some People Should STAY away from the Country!!!

Ashton Kutcher
I know when I go to parties or events I like to look the part.  But some may take things a little too far.  For example, if your a newbie into the world of Country Music, as say an actor is, you might want to dress a little more down than the Country Stars themselves.  Ah, Ashton Kutcher, you traded your trucker hat for a cowboy hat, belt buckle and jacket that can only be described as "Barnish."  I can;t tell if he was trying to be serious, or popping fun.

Although Ashtons charm usually lets you get away with most things, the obvious being ignored for this blog,  I cannot let him get away with this.  I am not a country fan, so thank you for the shot outs on poor outfit selections at the Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night.  And although I love a good red carpet award show, I wasn't sure what to expect for a country awards show.  Is Ashton's outfit an example of what they wear? Thankfully I was proven wrong.  The country stars themselves, who may be allowed to dress like this, as this is what they do, dressed better than he did.

L to R: Leann Rimes and Nicole Kidman
However not all country stars passed the fashion test.  Leann Rimes wore a reddish-brown geometric patterned dress with white piping.  After looking for pictures, I found out not only was it a Stella McCartney dress, but Nicole Kidman wore a similar dress in November 2011.  Neither are great, but if I had to pick one or the other, Nicole's wins out.  Leann's dress is not flattering with the cut up her thigh, nor should those shoes go with that dress.  But what I want to know is why did she decide to dress like Pebbles from the Flintstone?  Tell me you see it...

Hmmm, how to save the outfit?

I would like to see Leann's at least a little longer and maybe less white piping.  Those shoes have to go and that bag can go with it.  Even with the shortened version, that is a lot of pattern for someone her height.  Nicole is a good six inches taller than her-let the big girls wear those patterns Leann.  I know she wanted to go for a short Vegas dress, but this not a good example of one, nor appropriate for event.

All and all from what I could see, the awards show was fashioned about how I would expect it-a lot of cowboy hats, big belts, little blonde's and beer drinkers.  Ashton, stick with what you know best, acting and...leave it at that.  You are not a twenty-some anymore and at least when you were married you wore some classy suits.  And Leann, well BURN this dress.  It shouldn't be seen a third time by anyone, please put us out of our misery.  And to both of you,  based on these examples I am not sure you have or listen to stylists, so no need to FIRE...but maybe you can use your PUNK'd (Ashton) or 'How Do I Live' records sales (Leann) to buy one or a clue!  And Nicole, you are on probation for this one too...

Where's the Groom?

So if you watch TV, read magazines or surf the Internet, you will know like 50 different couples got married this weekend.  Okay, so maybe a bit of a over-exaggeration, but A LOT in any case.  So Congrats to those people, I suppose that is the correct way to do it.  I won't mention them all, because then this blog would get way too long.

However, I know what your thinking, white dress + Vegas (TAO is in Vegas) + Pamela Anderson = WEDDING.  Nope, she wore this ugly dress on her own...or we haven't been told about the nuptials?  Is she even dating anyone?  Regardless, this mesh dress was worn to celebrate her bday...not a wedding.

But she isn't longing by the pool, actually onto her way into a night club.  I know living by the beach in California, you become accustomed to a certain level of laid-back-ness.  However, this is just ridiculous.  If you go to Vegas night clubs its all about the glitz and glamour.

Hmmm, how to save the Outfit?

Lets be honest, it doesn't take someone to work at Victoria's Secret to know, you do not wear a tube top dress when you have a chest as large as hers.  I understand she was going to a "beach" theme club where it was all around the pool, but that doesn't excuse the lack of structure.  She isn't 22 years old anymore! (Sorry Pam)  The white is fine...but white mesh?  I think I see her underwear or bikini bottoms underneath the dress and believe me, I don't have to look too hard.

Maybe she should of given up the beach look and gone to get married.  At least we know she does that well...I would say to Pamela, hire a stylist and remove that dress.  Go to one of the thousands of stores in Vegas, which are ALL open late night and buy something nicer.  Then walk over to the Mirage Hotel and wait for the Volcano to erupt and throw this dress into the fire and watch it BURN!!!
