I Have NO DOUBT, This outfit is BAD!!!

Pretty sure when you enter the name Gwen Stefani, front woman for No Doubt, into your search engine, the term 'Fashion Pop Icon' will come up.  She has had a huge impact over the last twenty-some years in music and fashion.  I will not argue that, even if I don't necessarily like her style.  This outfit she wore for an appearance with the band is vintage Gwen...circa 2002.  I expected better, that's all I can say.

Gwen has two fashion lines, L.A.M.B and Harajuku Lovers.  She has been in multiple campaigns for makeup and hair ads.  So we can say, she has some experience and knows what works.  Obviously I think most would agree (aside from die-hard fans) this probably doesn't.  She is 42-years-old now with kids. She doesn't need to still be running around with her mid-drift showing like she did in her good old teenage days in California.  But like I said vintage Gwen with combat boots, parachute pants and black.  But there is just so much going on with her outfit, you miss that she is actually talented and might label her a goofball-not the businesswoman she has become.

Hmmm, how to save the outfit?

Not sure this can be saved.  Maybe some high heels to make her a bit more feminine?  Wear a shirt that covers her belly?  I like her style when it is more feminine.  I saw her jump on stage at a Prince concert last summer and she looked great in a cute dress.  Much more in the direction she should be going with her clothing selections as she gets older. I already saw teenager Gwen on stage, don't need to see it forever.

Gwen, vintage or not, I would BURN the baby baby t-shirt and the pants, I guess leave the combat boots and blazer.  And maybe try a more feminine "Punk" look...I have faith, you can do it.  As an example, here is a black outfit you wore on same trip to London, that was more up to your fashion icon standards!

When Life Gives You Lemons...You DON'T Always Need to Make Emmy Dresses

Apparently the color of the 2012 Primetime Emmy's last night was yellow...yup yellow.  And a bright yellow at that, a lemon yellow if you will.  A bold choice for fall, but we are still having summer weather in California, so I say why not?  But not all the women who chose this color came off like a spring chicken.

From L to R: Hannah Simone, Julianne Moore, Renee Bargh, Kaley Cuoco, Julie Bowen and Claire Danes

As anyone can clearly see, there were a couple hits and some misses, I even circled them for you.  Julianne Moore must of been sweating her little tail off in the sun yesterday with her long sleeved gown.  Very matronly...too much so for my taste.  And Claire Danes, I know she is pregnant, but doesn't she look like she is attending a BBQ or beach party, not so much a red carpet event.  However these weren't the worst of the yellow light offenders.

Leslie Mann
Leslie Mann, are you attending a circus?  Not sure if she reminds me of this because of her clown looking pants or that they look like a tent.  Either way, not a great look.  The skirt of the dress completely overwhelms the 5'7" Mann, which by Hollywood standards makes her a pretty tall actress.  Still no excuse.  I keep waiting for the clown shoes to pop out from underneath.

Hmmm, how to save the outfits?

Ok, if you are on television this is like Oscar night.  So wardrobe selections should be very important and not taken lightly.  And some of the women in this post even won, so there images will be seen for years to come.  And in People, US Weekly, Perez Hilton Blog, etc.  So this wont be so much as how to save the dress as a how to save the actress from herself and her stylist!

I think all these women are generally well dressed.  I hope Julianne doesn't go the way of Diane Keaton and start wearing pant suits for the rest of her life.  And Claire I know can do better.  We can attribute this to pregnancy and a bad idea (looking at you stylists).  And Leslie Mann, I kinda naturally vote you the quirky one of the trio.  I do think you usually do a bit better, but think that maybe you need to take a better look at who is dressing you.  All and all, I wouldn't do anything drastic, but will be watching next year...

P.S. Check out who E! picked at the worst dressed...I got 2 of the 4.  And that is only because I didn't see the last two women's dresses, yikes!!!  Worst Dressed at the Emmys

Vanessa Hudgens, Dancing with Herself at Coachella

Coachella Approved Outfits
So for those of you who don't know, Coachella is a Music and Arts annual festival held for two weekends in Indio California.  And last weekend (April 13-15) was Week #1.  Acts range from the Black Keys to Rihanna to Florence + the Machine.  And the celebrity festival-goers are just as random.  Its very laid back, so fashion isn't generally at the fore-front of outfit selections, especially with the rain and cold weather we had in California end of last week.  But that is no excuse...

I did look at this with a grain of salt, as this isn't my personal style of dressing and there were extenuating weather circumstances.  So to be fair, here is an example of "Coachella Approved Outfits" to the right.  Among the celebs with appropriate styling are Lea Michelle, Lauren Conrad, Kate Bosworth and Emma Watson.  These are all examples of the typical style worn and pretty much the best of the worst.

Vanessa Hudgens
However Vanessa Hudgens did not make that list as you will notice and here is why!  And a hint, its not because of her fine dancing skills. I am pretty sure, she has some sort of patterned dress on or bathing suit cover-up or long top?  With black lace thigh highs, mid-calf motorcycle boots and orange floppy hat to complete her look.  I would say she got dressed in the dark, but that wouldn't be fair to people who actually DO get dressed in the dark!  Or wonder if she went to play dress up at the local thrift shop on her way to the festival?  Nope still not fair, plenty of people find low-budget steals that are presentable...or so I am told.

Hmmm, how to save the outfit?

Really?  There is no saving this outfit.  I understand this is our version of 'Woodstock' and its all about the music, relaxing...and the "herbal" enhancements, but honestly, this is tragic.

Vanessa, Vanessa, Vanessa.  A little effort or appearance of trying to look decent would of been nice. I cannot blame stylists for this one-it is all you.  So no need to FIRE anyone, but BURN the boots, thigh highs and dress.  You can keep the hat and maybe next time you will remember...people can see you, bad dancing and all!
